serendipitous cocoa mugs for st. nicholas night

St. Nicholas Night, December 5th, is a traditional part of Festivus, although technically we don't get chocolates in our wooden shoes (which I think is what St. Nick does in Holland, where it is actually celebrated). In keeping with Festivus tradition (in which we assimilate and bastardize as many winter-holidays as we possibly can into one glorious seemingly-never ending celebration), St. Nick Night is an evening of cocoa in Santa-shaped mugs and the first batch of holiday cookies. This meant for the past 5 years away from home I was sent a box filled with red + green-sprinkled sugar cookies and Land-o-Lakes cocoa (apparently those butter people know their way around chocolate too, cos it is the BEST), especially in the Raspberry or Mint flavors.

This year I took it upon myself to procure my own Santa-mugs, since they were always missing in the home-away-from-home celebrations at school. Then I had to convince myself not to scoop up the adorable snowmen + penguin ones at Targ-jay for like $4 each. Non, I would find my Santa Mugs at The House of Goodwill, since they were just a once a year thing, and Festivus already provides me with a million little ways to spend money and treat myself. So sure enough, on the way home e* and I pop into Goodwill, and guess what I find? The snowmen mugs! For a dollar each! Magical.
